The lid may include an annular shock-absorbing structure, and retention rim construction, wherein the shock absorbingstructure providing a predetermined amount of extension and contraction to absorbforces or stress applied to the lid and/or container and facilitate retention of the lid onthe container when dropped, tipped, or upon falling or squeezing of the container. Theretention rim is specially constructed to resist disengagement.
