quarrel[5kwCrEl] v. 争吵：They are good friends, and they

never quarrel. 他们是好朋友，从来不吵架。/ Peter and

Tom were quarrelling about who should go first. 彼得和

汤姆为了谁先走而争吵。

【短语】 quarrel with (和某人)吵架：They quarrelled with

each other for the biggest apple. 他们为了那个最大的苹

果而彼此争吵起来。/ He quarrelled with his wife. / He

had a quarrel with his wife. 他与他妻子吵架了。

quarter[5kwC:tE] n. 四分之一；一刻钟：We’ve covered a

quarter of the distance now. 我们已经走了全程的四分之

一了。/ I’ll see you in a quarter of an hour. 一刻钟后我

来看你。

question[5kwestFEn] n. 问题：Please answer my question.

请回答我的问题。/ I’d like to ask you a few questions,

queue[kju:] n. 队，行列：Who’s that boy at the front of t

quick[kwik] adj. 快的，迅速的：Be quick! The train leaves

in 5 minutes! 快点！再过5分钟火车就要开了。/ This i

s a quick train. 这是一列快车。

quickly[5kwikli] adv. 快地，迅速地：He did his work very

quickly and then went out. 他很快地把工作做完了，然

后走了出去。/ I quickly ate up all my dinner. 我很快把

所有饭菜吃完了。

quiet[5kwaiEt] adj. 安静的；平静的：Be quiet. The baby i

s asleep. 小声点，这婴儿在睡觉。/ The sea was quiet.

海上风平浪静。

quietly[5kwaiEtli] adv. 安静地；轻声地：He came into the

room very quietly. 他悄悄地走进房间来。/ Speak quietly,

please. 请轻声地说。

quite[kwait] adv. 很，十分：We are quite tired. 我们相当累

了。/ He is quite interested in it. 他对此很感兴趣。

【说明】意为“十分”、“相当”，其强调的语气比fairly要强，

但比rather, pretty, very 等要弱。
