音乐剧《猫》

The Musical "Cats"

《猫》讲述的是一个童话般的传奇故事，一群杰里科猫在一年一度的聚会上踊跃表现自己以争取唯一的资格获得重生。全剧节奏律动紧凑，表现富有张力和感染力，给予观众视觉上的极大冲击与享受。《猫》的作者是安德鲁·劳埃德·韦伯（Andrew Lloyd Webber），除了《猫》之外，他还创作了《日落大道》《歌剧魅影》等耐人寻味的歌剧，不断创造者英美戏剧界的奇迹。

"Cats" is about a fairy tale of legend , A group of Jericho cat in the

annual party are eager to show theirselves to strive for the only

chance for regeneration. This opera gives audiences the vision of

shock and enjoyment whose rhythm is compact and the

performance imbued with tension and appeal. The author of “Cats”

is Andrew Lloyd Webber who also created “SunsetBlvd” and “The

Phantom of the Opera” except for “Cats”, all of which are

fantastic,constantly bringing out the miracle in British and American

theatrical circles.

《猫》中演员众多，且每一个都个性鲜明惟妙惟肖。譬如最先隆重出场的Jennyanydots詹尼安点点-----"褓姆猫”，她从一个箱子中慵懒的出现，体态臃肿但不失可爱。她热心训练老鼠织毛衣，解决螳螂就业问题。舞姿动作滑稽可爱，她的出现是舞台上洋溢着温暖愉悦的气氛。另外还有Old Deuteronomy老杜特洛内米，他是一只年纪很大而且充满智慧的领袖猫，平日很少出没，但是舞会上他一定会出现并决定挑选重生猫，猫族的每一只猫都翘首期盼着他的到来，他体格硕大，气势是神圣而不可侵犯的。除此之外，最让人记忆深刻的莫过于全剧最重要的角色Grizabella格里泽贝拉猫，她狼狈不堪地出现于猫群之中，蓬头垢面而且苍老丑陋，猫群们对她排斥敌视。但是她年轻时曾是猫族中最美丽的母猫，由于想要体验另一种生活，她离开了猫族，当她回来的时候已经是风华不复当年。她的一曲《memory》道尽了苦楚与凄凉，表现出自己对于幸福的向往，也让族中的猫们为之感动并对其改观。她的每一次出现都会掀起整场歌剧的高潮。

There are numerous actors in “Cats” , and everyone has distinct

and remarkable instance, the first one

Jennyanydots who appeared ceremoniously was a “nurse cat”.She

emerged indolently from a box with a bloated but lovely

trained the mouse to knit a sweater enthusiastically

and solved the mantis’ employment problem. Her dance was so

funny and cute that her emergence on the stage produced a warm

and cheerful s,there’s another one-Old

Deuteronomy,who was an old and smart “leader cat”,he Rarely

haunted on weekdays but must appear in the party to choose which

cat can regenerate. Every cat was so looked forward to his

arrival .His physique was huge and his momentum was so sacred

and shall not be infringed. Apart from these,no one was more

impressive than the most important role in the whole opera——Grizabella, Embarrassed she stood among the cats，appearing to

be untidy and cats were all hostile and discriminating

against her .However when she was young she used to be the

most charming female cat in the cat to pursuing for

another way of life,she left the cat family,but she was no longer

beautiful when she returned. Her song”memory” expressed all the

sufferings,which in the meanwhile showed her yearning for

happiness,

also made the cat family moved and changed their

attitude towards time she showed up, had lifted the

climax of the opera.

整部剧的背景场景是夜深人静的垃圾场，灯光一直都是微弱昏暗的，于是这群被世人遗忘的杰里科猫才得以出动。光影浓郁的舞台营造出一种寂寥而又欢腾的景象，以静衬动。尤其在一开场，黑色背景下不断涌出的渐小的猫眼着实有种视觉刺激，也恰到好处地展现了猫的特点：在黑暗中洞察不为人知的世间百态。每只猫的造型各异且形态不同，母猫温柔慵懒中透着优雅妩媚，公猫在敏捷利落中又展现出强健结实。每只猫身上的色彩纹案和头饰发型都经过了精心的设计，连脸部纹路的勾勒都是细致入微，使我们能轻易的辨别其性别、年龄与性格，尤其是眼周和嘴角微妙的上扬角度，将猫的神韵表露无遗，以致演员面部的每一个表情都猫味十足。演员们的舞姿都精致逼真甚至有一点夸张，芭蕾舞步生动地描摹出猫的柔韧灵巧。一开始每位成员出场时旋律跳跃的短句有如猫行走时轻盈的步态与不经意的停顿，充满了警惕和怀疑的意味，直至夜色渐浓，无人打搅，猫儿们才开始欢腾热烈的舞蹈，此时同一乐段的接连重复更彰显了猫儿们情绪的高涨与放纵。而且根据角色的不同转换不同的舞蹈风格，譬如Victoria维克多利亚，一只优雅善良的纯白猫跳着凝重华丽的芭蕾舞；而Rum

tum tugger若腾塔格，一只性格反覆无常而且叛逆的摇滚猫则展现出轻松活泼的踢踏舞；Bombalurina邦巴露娜，这只性感成熟的迷人猫就配以妖娆魅惑的爵士舞。绝始终紧贴剧情与角色性格，在体现个性的同时更突显了舞台层次，此起彼伏，杂而不乱。音乐与表演完美结合，把歌剧的故事性展现的淋漓尽致。

The back scene of the whole play was a wasteyard late at the

night ,where the light was so dim that the group of Jericho cats who

were ignored by people were able to go shadow built a kind

of lonely but cheerful scene, reflecting jubilation compared with

silence. Especially in the opening, the decrescent cats’ eyes

pouring out in the black background was indeed a visual stimulation.

Which also exactly showed the cat’s features: have a insight into

the unknown world in the darkness. Each of the cat had different

shapes and forms, the female cats were gentle languid with elegant

charm while the male cats showed power with agility. The color

lines and hairstyle of each cat had passed through the elaborate

design. Even the outline of the face was meticulous, so that we can

easily tell the difference between the gender, age and character.

Especially the subtle angle of the eye week and the corners of the

mouth, showed the verve of the cat completely, consequently

actor’s every facial expression was dye-in-the-wood catty. The

actors’ dance were delicate and lifelike even a little exaggerated,

the ballet steps vividly decipted the flexible dexterity of cat. At the

beginning, each member came out in a short sentence which was

like lightsome gait and casual pause during a cat’s leap,which was

full of vigilance and doubt. Until the shades of evening was

thick,and no one would disturb, cats began to exult warmly to

dance. At this time the same passages and back-to-back repetition

revealed mounting feeling and indulgence of the cats. And

according to the different role the different dance style was

changed. Such as Victoria, an elegant kind pure white cat was

dancing the dignified and gorgeous ballet. And Rum tum tugger , a

character capricious and rebellious rock cats showed relaxed and

lively tap dance. Bombalurina, this sexy mature charming cat was

matched with enchanting jazz dance. The whole performance was

absolutely always close to the plot and character, reflecting

individual character and at the same time showed the stage

level,miscellaneous and not random. Music and performance were

combined perfectly,showing the story of the opera incisively and

vividly.

当然，歌剧中的形象总是影射着现实生活中的各种形态。"褓姆猫"Jennyanydots詹尼安点点喜欢对于出身望族的同类阿谀奉承反映了现实生活中常见的屈于权贵的现象；”剧院猫”Gus格斯日渐衰落的经历也反映出现实人生的跌宕起伏风云不复；"富贵猫"Bustopher

Jones布斯托夫•琼比喻的是一群上层社会的人，受过良好教育很有绅士风度，受人尊敬，但是贪图安逸；Grizabella格里泽贝拉，这只猫曾经的魅力猫沦落成苍老的流浪猫受猫群的排挤敌视反映出了现实生活中人们对于弱势群体的排斥与冷漠；"摇滚猫"Rum tum tugger若腾塔格也恰似现实中叛逆偏执的青少年追求个性；善良的Victoria维克多利亚对于Grizabella格里泽贝拉伸出援助之手却遭到Jennyanydots詹尼安点点的阻止更加反映出大多社会人群的歧视冷漠心理。

Of course, the images of the opera were always alluding to various

forms in real life. “nurse cat"Jennyanydots tended to be flatting to

the cats from prominent family,which reflected the common

phenomenon of bowing in influencial officials in real life. “the

theatre cat” Gus’s waned experience also reflected the capricious

reality. “rich cat” Bustopher Jones represented a group of upper

society, who had received the good education and behaved as a

respected gentleman, but they hankered after ease. Grizabell,this

previous charming cat descended into old stray cat whom were

squeezed out by the group ,reflecting that people always reject and

discriminate the vulnerable groups in real life. Rock cat" Rum tum

tugger was like the rebellious and paranoid teenager with pursuit of

individual character. Kind Victoria lent a hand to poor Grizabell,but

met with the restraint from Jennyanydots ,was reflecting the cold

and detached attitude from public towards others.

整部剧反映出了美国社会光鲜亮丽的表面下的波澜暗涌，社会等级森严，阶级观念占据人心，盲目崇拜神圣威严的Old Deuteronomy老杜特洛内米，对于落魄孤苦的Grizabella格里泽贝拉却鄙夷排挤；同时贫富悬殊的问题也凸显出来，上层社会的"富贵猫"Bustopher

Jones享受的是锦衣玉食的尊贵待遇，而Grizabella格里泽贝拉以及”剧院猫”Gus格斯却过得凄清无助；而且社会动乱不安，"犯罪猫"Macavity麦卡维蒂以及”小偷猫”Mungojerry

and Rumpleteazer蒙哥杰利与蓝蓓蒂泽的出现都让原本欢乐的节奏变得急促而紧张，那一声打乱夜晚平静的枪响和急报声——WANTED FOR EVERYING更是把美国社会的动荡勾勒的十分逼真。

The whole play mirrored the turbulent waves underneath the

harmonious surface of American society: severe hierarchy ,the

concept of class , the blind worship to the divine majesty Old

Deuteronomy and the rejection of sorehead Grizabella. At the same

time the problem of the polarization between the rich and the poor

had been raised, the “rich cat” Bustopher Jones enjoyed the

extravagant life and convenience while the Grizabella and “the

theatre cat” Gus were living a life full of sorrow and helplessness.

What was worse,the society is unrest, "crime cat" Macavity and

“thief cat” Mungojerry and Rumpleteazer let the original rhythm of

joy become more rapidly and nervous. The shot and alarm broke

the silence at night ——WANTED FOR EVERYING, outlined the

turbulence of the American more distinctly.

故事的最后Grizabella格里泽贝拉以一曲《memory》平息了所有猫儿对她的敌意，唤起了对她的深深同情和怜悯，进而成功当选。歌曲里她回忆曾经的辉煌与风光，以及独自闯荡世界的孤苦沧桑，落魄时却没有一点自卑，她依旧怀有对新生活的渴望。在现实冷漠的世

界里，希望是最能令人动容的东西。它能化解不和谐的因素，能够唤醒爱与关怀。这也能说明在当时的美国社会，大多数底层人民仍然怀抱希望努力争取自己的自由与权力。这同时也可以反映出美国的选举制度，尽管社会问题不断，但是制度民主且自由，候选人的最终结果是掌握在选民的手上。

At the end of the story Grizabella resorted a song “memory” to calm

down the hostility from all cats, and arouse their deep sympathy

and compassion towards her, and then elected successfully. She

recalled the refulgence and glory in the past , the sadness and

loneliness when she made a living from place to place,there was no

selfcontempt when down and out ,she still had the desire for new

life. In the real indifferent world, hope was the most compelling

thing. It could dissolve the inharmonious factors, and could awake

love and care. It also showed that at that time of the American

society, most people in the bottom still wanted to make efforts to

embrace the hope to fight for their own freedom and power. It also

could reflect American electoral system, although social problems

continued, but the system was demoscratic and free, and the

ultimate result of candidate was in the hands of voters.

整部歌剧芭芭拉·史翠珊（Barbra Streisand）所演唱的《memory》一共出现了3次。第一次是格里泽贝拉Grizabella的内心独白，第二次是猫族的情感转折点，第三次则让全剧冲向了高潮。每一次演绎都是不同的情感，也让相同的旋律被赋予了不同的色彩，在一遍遍反复中愈发耐人寻味。以前听《memory》只是觉得旋律优美婉转，但是在《猫》中感受一番便会被惊艳到，并细细品味歌词从而真正领悟到这首歌的真谛。这首歌表现出格里泽贝拉Grizabella对于过去的追忆以及对于未来的向往，它承载着光明与希望，体现出她永不言弃的精神和生生不息的伟大意志。它让人体会到回忆的虚幻与未来的真实，让人不沉溺于过去消极地得过且过，而是从飘渺的过去汲取力量，为每一个明天奋斗不息。这是人性的光辉与力量。

The song”memory” sang by Barbra Streisand had appeared three

times. The first time is Grizabella’ internal dialogue, the second is

the cat family’s emotional turning point ,and the third let the whole

play rushed to the climax. Each time the deduction was different

feeling,also endowing the same melody with different color. And the

song became more and more intriguing over and over again.

Before I listened to “memory”,I just thought it graceful. But when I

encountered it in “cat”,I found it amazing and striking,and when I

carefully tasted lyrics I came to really realize the true meaning of

this song. This song displayed Grizabella’s remembrance for the

past and the desire for the future. It carried with light and hope,

reflecting her spirit of never giving up and perennial great will. It let

people realize the unreal of past and the real of future,prevent

people from indulging in the past and encourage them to draw

strength form past to struggle for tomorrow. It’s the glory and power

of human nature.

《猫》凭借它的怪诞不经以及夸张的想象力成为了最受欢迎和最广泛传播的音乐剧。从受众的角度考虑，歌剧中的主角猫是可爱而具有灵性的小生物，最容易打动人心；而且猫的行为乖张诡异，敏感复杂，跟人性有所相通。而且该剧的故事结构很简单，但是它不被俗世固有的模式所羁绊，它挖掘了受众心里最软弱最纯真的一面——未泯的童心和诗意，在猫的世界用童话的方式深入人心唤醒人性，让我们站在客观的角度凝视着世间百态，轻描淡写却又意味深长。而且，出场的角色众多且个性不一，每一个角色都是从生活中取得原型，经过艺术提炼后而产生的。虽然是童话，但是却可以在该剧中感受到许多生活气息与现实投影，几乎每个受众都可以在歌剧中找到自己的定位与角色。它扣人心弦引人入胜，让受众想象成自己置身于歌剧之中幻化成一只猫。并且这部剧涉及了“谁能上天堂”这样一个深刻而耐人

寻味的问题，符合受众的追求与信仰。而且整部剧中的文化艺术形式多样，从芭蕾舞到现代舞，从爵士乐到摇滚乐，涂鸦、魔术等穿插其中，不禁让受众乐在其中意犹未尽。

“Cat” resorted its weird and uncanny figure and exaggerated

imagination to be the most popular and most widely-spreaded

musical play. From the view of the audiences, the protagonist in the

opera——cat,was lovely and spiritual,which was very easy to touch

the hearts. And cats behaved unreasonbly ,they were sensitive and

complex,had much in common with humans. The structure of the

story was simple but not inherent by model. It excavated the

weakest and purest part in audiences’ heart: childlike innocence

and poetry that hadn’t vanished. It roused the human nature by

fairy tale in the world of cats,making us stand in the point of

objective view,gazing at the whole world ,relaxed and meaningful.

There were so many roles in the play with different personality, and

every role were obtained from the prototype in life ,then came into

being after refining. Although it was a fairy tale, but we can feel

many real projection. Almost every audience can find themselves in

opera positioning and the corresponding role. It was so fascinating

that let the audiences to imagine themselves in the opera and then

magically change into a cat. And the play was involved in the deep

and intriguing question “who can go to heaven”,living up to the

audiences’ pursuit and belief. The whole play contained diverse

artistic culture, from ballet to modern dance, from jazz to hard

rock,even graffiti, magic also among them,providing boundless

joice for audiences.

《猫》作为一部经典的音乐剧，以其独特的视角以非凡的姿态展现了人性世界的纷繁复杂，但是它最精髓的内容莫过于告诉了我们爱与宽容的真谛，以及坚持与信念的力量。

“Cat”,as a classic musical play , with its unique angle of view

portrayed the complex world of human nature in an extraordinary

attitude. However ,the most essencial content was to tell us the true

meaning of love and tolerance, and the power of persistence and

faith .
