take part in
participate 正式用词,指与他人共同参加某种活动,接介词in。常用结构
participate in, 口语中常用动词短语take part in 。(指参加某种活动并在其中起一份
作用。)
1) They often
participate in
the social and cultural activities in the community.
(他们经常参与社区的社会文化活动。)
2) Many expert geologists have
participated in
the survey of this area.
(许多专家级的地质学家已经参与了这个区域调查.)
3) The majority of the states in this region decided to
participate in
the
conference.
(这一地区大多数国家决定参加这次会议。)
4) Did you
take part in
the discussion on how to spend summer vacation?
(你参加了关于如何度暑假的讨论了吗?)
5) I’d love to join in a concert, but I really don’t like to
take
an active
part in
it.

attend
join “加入”, 指加入某个组织,如表示参加他人的活动需用join sb. in (doing)
sth.
1) He
joined
an international green environment body and took an active part
in it.
(加入了国际绿色环保组织并积极参与其活动。)
2) The headmaster says that he will
join
us in the discussion tomorrow
afternoon.
(校长说他要参加我们明天下午的讨论。)
engage “参加”,“参与”、“使加入”,基本意思是“从事”,也可表示参与到
某事或某活动中。常用结构是:
engage in; engage sb. in
3) If you
engage in
local politics, you cannot expect to have much time for your
family.
(如果你从事当地政治,你就不要期望有更多的时间用于家庭。
4) I have no time to
engage in
gossip, so please don’t come to me with your
rumours and complaints.

enter 由“进入”引出“参加”、“加入”。enter for “报名参加”。

attend 仅指参加会议、聚会等。

sit for 指参加考试。
1) There have been an increasing number of young graduates who
sit for
their
examinations as civil servants in recent year.
(最近几年有越来越多的年轻毕业生参加公务员考试。)
