I’ve just got back from an international music camp in Berlin, Germany. I had such a

wonderful time. We played music in the morning, and in the afternoon we got to hang out with

other young people. Then in the evening we played more music!

The best thing about the camp was that everyone got on well together, even though we

didn’t all share the same first language. It’s amazing how far a smile can go. I’ve now made

lots of international friends, so if I ever want to travel the world, I’ll have loads of cool places

to stay.

We also really enjoyed exchanging things from our own countries. Just little things like

coins, scarves, badges, postcards and sweets. I now have an amazing coin collection! I’ll show

you next time I see you.

One of the friends I made was Ivor, from Russia. At first I thought he looked unfriendly

because he didn’t smile very much. But actually he’s one of the nicest, funniest people I’ve

ever met! It turns out that Russians tend not to smile very much, as people who smile a lot are

thought to be insincere in their culture. Who knew?

Hope we’ll catch up soon.

Love,

Beverley
