1、 This is not the world we know. This world is controlled by computers. Men and women can be seen, but they are
following the orders given to them by machines. The machines were designed by mad scientists, but at some point even
the mad scientists were taken over by their super-inventions.
Does this sound familiar? You have probably read something like it in magazines or books, or seen it in a film. Why is it so
popular? One of the reasons is that it reflects the fears of many people; fear of the unknown fear of what is not
understood or, at least, fear of something that is not completely understood.
The fact is that every day it seems that computers take control of another area of our lives. Some
factory jobs are now done by robots and the robots are controlled by computers. Our bank accounts are managed by
computers. At the airport, our tickets are sold by a computer. Certainly, many of these operations are made more
efficient by computers, but our admiration is sometimes mixed with unsafe feelings. And this lack of safety is caused by
the fact that we do not know how computers do these things, and we really don't know what they might do next.
But we can find out how computers work, and once we understand them, we can use computers instead of worrying
about being used by them. Today, there is a new generation of computer wizards who know exactly how computers get
things done. These young men and women, usually university students, are happy to sit for hours, sometimes for days,
designing programs, not eating, not sleeping, but discovering what can be done by these wonderful slaves which they
have learned to control. These computer wizards have learned to use the computer and search for new tasks for their
machines.

作文:We are living in an Information Age. And the Internet can influence our lives in many ways. Write an essay on the
topic "Internet and Me". You should base your essay on the outline below.
1.因特网带来的益处2.因特网带来的弊端3.因特网对我的影响
范文:Everything lives with opposite forces. The same can be said about modern technology, such as Internet. At first
glance Internet offers us excitement and a worl of promise. Frankly speaking, people who have some ideas of it can not
deny the merits born with the system. For instance,it can improve proficiency in scientific research, for by means of it
scientists and researchers can get a global look at the latest development in the field concerned and accordingly they
need spend no time doing what has already been done. In view of personal communication, the most convenient means
could be peculiar to Internet, too.
While people speak highly of Internet, its drawbacks shouldn't be neglected. Sometimes, alittle fatal breakdown of the
system, or a disastrous error could bring us an enormous amount of damage and loss. Meanwhile, with lnternet's
replacement of hooks or the written work as the main source of information, human's writing abilities are weakened and
relations between people are desalinated
However, every country on this planet should work hard
to develop the system to serve us more efficiently and comfortably, because in the net all countries are interrelated.
Internet is colsely in linked

1、 Do you find getting up in the morning so difficult that it's painful? This might be called laziness, but Dr. Kleitman has a
new explanation. He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.
During the hours when you labor through your work you may say that you're "hot". That's true. The time of day when you
feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak. For some people the peak comes during the
forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such
familiar monologues as: "Get up, John! You'll be late for work again!" The possible explanation to the trouble is that John
is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarreling ends when husbands and wives realize
what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family including their kid has.
You can't change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life fit it better. Habit can help, Dr. Kleitman believes.
Maybe you're sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Counteract (对抗) your cycle to some extent
by habitually staying up later than you want to. If your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do
early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won't change your cycle, but you'll get up steam and work better at your
low point.
Get off to a slow start which saves your energy. Get up with a leisurely yawn (呵欠) and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed
a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the troublesome search for clean clothes by laying them out the
night before. Whenever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration
for your sharper hours.

(3)、If one wants to work more efficiently at his low point in the morning, he should . B
A:get to bed earlier B:get up earlier than usual C:overcome his laziness D:change his energy cycle
(4)、You are advised to rise with a yawn哈欠 and stretch because it will ___A___.
A:help to keep your energy for the day's work B:keep your energy cycle under control all day

2、 It came as something of a surprise when Diana, Princess of Wales, made a trip to Angola in 1997, to support the Red
Cross's campaign for a total ban on landmines(地雷). Within hours of arriving in Angola, television screens around the
world were filled with images of her comforting victims injured in explosions The Princess concluded with a simple
message: "We must stop landmines". And she used every opportunity during her visit to repeat this message.

ban on these weapons. Angry politicians launched an attack on the Princess in the press. They described her as "very

I'm trying to do is help."

for the government, it soon emerged that the Princess's trip had been approved by the Foreign Office, and that she was in
fact very well-informed about both the situation in Angola and the British government's policy regarding landmines. The

Fortunately, people have realized this pressing problem and are trying to find ways to salve it. First, people are urged to
economize on water. Second, measures are taken to protect water resources. Third, circulating water is used for industrial
purposes over and over in factories and treated sewage water is used for irrigation in farming land.

1、 What makes one person more intelligent than another? What makes one person a genius, like the brilliant Albert
Einstein, and another person a fool? Are people born intelligent or stupid, or is intelligence the result of where and how
you live? These are very old questions and the answers to them are still not clear.
We know, however, that just being born with a good mind is not enough. In some ways, the mind is like a leg or an arm
muscle. It needs exercise. Mental (done with the mind) exercise is particularly important for young children. Many child
psychologists think that parents should play with their children more often, and give them problems to think about. The
children are then more likely to grow up bright and intelligent. If, on the other hand, children are left alone a great deal
with nothing to do, they are more likely to become dull and unintelligent.
Parents should also be careful what they say to young children. According to some psychologists, if parents are always
telling a child that he or she is a fool or an idiot, then the child is more likely to keep doing silly and foolish things. So it is
probably better for parents to say very positive things to their children, such as "That was a very clever thing you did" or
"You are such a smart child".

through an 18-week course of daily walks.
They found that longer walks produce the most beneficial changes to the composition of blood fats, but walks of any
length improve the fitness of the heart.
In the study, the normally inactive subjects were divided into three roughly粗糙的,大至 equal groups. The "long walker"

2、 When you think of the cinema, the phrase "watching a movie" probably comes to mind, and, in fact, moviemakers
work very hard to make their films interesting visually形象化的. But movies also contain stories, dialogues, music and
sound effects - things that people don't need to see in order to enjoy.
Movie reviewer Marty Klein has created a website to help choose movies that they can follow themselves. Klein gives
movies a rating等级评定 from 1 to 10. A movie receives a high rating if there are only a few main characters whose
voices are easy to recognize. Klein also likes an interesting story without too many changes in time and place. A large
amount of dialogues between the characters is better than long silences or noisy action scenes.
Of course, visually impaired受损的 people can enjoy many films when a friend explains the parts that can only be seen.
But that means that blind people cannot go to the movies independently. To solve these problems, some movie theaters
have begun to offer recorded audio descriptions of the movements, scenery, and special effects that other audience
members can see on the screen. Blind moviegoers receive a wireless headset耳机 to wear during the movie. This allows
them to listen to the narration叙述 while still hearing a movie's music and other sounds that surround them in the
theater.
Another blind movie reviewer, Jay Forry, writes movie reviews that are published on his website. He also writes for
newspapers and is a guest on radio shows. Forry gives movies one of five ratings, including, "So good, blind people will
like it" and "I'm glad I couldn't see it." Forry became a writer after going blind at the age of 20 and he decided to go to
college. His first articles appeared in the college newspaper, and Forry's writing skills and sense of humor are what keep
people reading his reviews or listening to them on the radio. After "watching" The Sixth Sense, Forry commented that he
thought the movie was excellent, but that he envied妒忌,羡慕 the boy who was the main character: "He had six senses,
and I only have four."

People sometimes confuse acquaintances with friends. The two terms have something in common, but, as far as I'm
concerned, there are more between them. An acquaintance is one name
you know, who you probably have something in common with and who you feel comfortable around. you don't share
your life with most of them because you don't know enough about them.
A friend, however, is you love. Not that you are "in love" with them, but you them and you think about them when they
are not there. You feel with them because you know they won't hurt you. You know that if you have a problem, they are
there to listen.
Friends are the people who prevent you making mistakes and help you when you do. They are the people whose hand
you can hold. You can hug or give them a kiss and don't make them feel nervous because they the things you do and they

Many patients died after even the smallest operations. This was because bacteria entered the cuts in the patients' bodies

Some factory jobs are now
done by robots and the robots are controlled by computers. Our bank accounts are managed by computers. At the airport,
our tickets are sold by a computer. Certainly, many of these operations are made more efficient by computers, but our
admiration is sometimes mixed with unsafe feelings. And this lack of safety is caused by the fact that we do not know how
computers do these things, and we really don't know what they might do next.
These computer wizards have learned to use the computer and search for new tasks for their
machines.

As is the case we can see, the rapid development of computer technology is exerting profound impact on our life, almost
in every aspect. In addition to the use in working, computers are finding their way into the home. They are so intelligent
that they seem to be able to solve all problems; consequently, some people say that it will sooner or later take the place
of human beings.
As for me, I firmly hold the view that there is no such possibility on the grounds that computers are but machines, made
by humans. They can only do as humans instruct them and our tasks are far too complicated for any machines to
undertake.
For human, there is one thing that computers can never accomplish, that is, the former can make decision by their own
while the latter can do nothing unless they are programmed.
In my opinion, computers will remain nothing but an extension of human brains, no matter how clever and sophisticated
they will become.

I’m now living in a small house with my parents. Life for us is hard but happy. I must study hard so that I can buy a big new
house some day. I call it a dream house.
It has three floors with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, two big dining rooms and two living rooms. When my friends

pool behind the house and a garden in front of the house. In the morning, my parents can do some exercise in the garden.
The air must be very fresh. When we feel tired, we can have a swim in the swimming pool. Life will be easy for us.
