龙是中国人自古以来一直崇拜的神异动物(deifiedanimal)。在中国的神话传说

(folklore)中。龙是多种动物的综合体,拥有多种动物的特长。即使中国龙是一种现实中并

不存有的动物，但它在中国人的心里占据着不可替代的位置。在过去，龙长期被古时的中

国人当作能够控制自然界的神。在封建社会，龙是权利和帝王的象征。在现代社会，龙已

经成为吉祥物(mascot)，象征腾飞、成功、开拓精神和创造。所以在中国人的日常生活中,

到处都能看到龙的形象。

ancient time. In the Chinesefolklore dragon is a combination of many

animals,which possesses those animals, special skills. Chinesedragon is a

people as a god who could control the nature. In feudal society, dragonwas the

1.“在中国的神话传说中”可译作in the Chinese folklore;第二句的主语是“龙”，

有两个谓语动词“是”和“拥有”翻译时可将“龙是多种动物的综合体”作为主句，将

“拥有多种动物的特长”翻译成which引导的非限定性定语从句，对先行词dragon实

行补充说明。

2.“占据着不可替代的位置”可译作 have an irreplaceableposition,也可译为

occupy an irreplaceable place。

3.在翻译“龙长期被古时的中国人当作能够控制自然界的神”这句话时，能够使用

who将“能够控制自然界”处理为定语从句，对龙是什么样的神实行说明。

4.倒数第二句“在现代社会，龙已经成为…”较长，含有两个分句，后一个分句“象

征腾飞、成功…”可用 which引导的非限制性定语从句，译作which signifies taking off,

success, pioneering spirit and creation，或是用现在分词短语signifying

来表达。
