Teacher’s Book for Unit 2
Unit 2 Write a hotel reservation email
Starting up
About the unit
Organsing meetings is a common daily task in any workplace. In order to organise meetings, we
need to be able to write hotel reservation emails. This unit presents what needs to be included in a
hotel reservation email, and offers some strategies to develop Ss’ abilities in structuring and writing
a well-organised reservation email. After completing this unit, Ss will be able to write a hotel
reservation email at work.
Teaching objectives
When teaching this unit, the T should enable Ss to
note down specific information about a hotel, including room types, facilities, etc. (Set the task

list key requests for reserving a hotel (Prepare for the task);
list two to three key points they need to consider when writing a hotel reservation email
(Develop the strategies);
write a hotel reservation email (Fulfil the task
& To extend
).
Teaching suggestions
The T can start this unit by showing Ss a picture of a hotel meeting room and asking them questions
about the functions of the room. Ask Ss about how they would go about booking the meeting room
if they were going to have a meeting there. Role-play is a suitable teaching method for this unit.
Ask some Ss to act as meeting organisers and others as the hotel staff. In this way, the T introduces
Ss to the task of writing hotel reservation emails.
