My Big Brother in College

My big brother Jack just started going to college this year.

He's 18 years old and lives on the university campus which is

pretty far away from our house. I really miss having him around

but I'm also super excited that he's in college because I think

college is really cool!

Jack tells me all about what it's like living in the dorms and

going to classes. He says he has a roommate named Chris who is

from another city. At first, Jack said he was nervous about having

to share a tiny room with someone he didn't know. But now he

and Chris are best friends! They like a lot of the same video

games and funny YouTube videos. Jack says it's awesome

getting to hang out with Chris all the time.

In the dorms, Jack lives on the same hallway as a bunch of

other students. He's made friends with several guys on his floor

by playing pool and videogames together in the common

lounge area. There's a really nice rec room with couches, TVs,

and a pool table. Jack's new friends are named Tyler, Zack, and

Amir. They're all on the dorm's intramural basketball team too.

Jack has also met a lot of people in his classes. He's taking

big lecture classes with hundreds of students, like Chemistry and

Psychology. Jack sits with the same group in Chemistry and

they've formed a study group. The people in his study group are

two girls named Emily and Samantha, and a guy named David.

Emily is really smart and helps explain the hard concepts. Jack

says Samantha is really nice and funny. David struggles a bit

more but the group helps him understand.

In Jack's smaller classes like English 101, he's gotten to know

some people better through group projects and class

discussions. There's a girl named Jess who is Jack's partner for

presenting on a book they read. Jess is an English major and Jack

says she's super interesting to talk to about books and writing.

Jack has joined some clubs too in order to meet even more

people. He's in the Hiking Club since he loves the outdoors.

There's a pretty trail near campus and they go on hikes every

weekend. Jack has made friends with other nature lovers like a

girl named Maya who runs track and is also an environmental
