Chinese Language

First of all, the Chinese language originated from 5000 years ago. During five

thousand years, China has 18 dynasties include different type of languages and word

forms. Nowadays, we usually use simplified Chinese in most mainland except Taiwan and

Hong Kong. In Taiwan and Hong Kong, people usually use traditional Chinese. By the

way, there are some tiny differences between simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese.

In ancient China, traditional Chinese characters which are used to print and write.

However, people had realized we can simplify the traditional Chinses because it has

complicated strokes. Also, people found that we can learn the simplified Chinese easier

than the traditional Chinese. From 1949 to 1970, the government of China started to use

simplified characters. The new character list was finalized by the end of 1970. Therefore,

most of the words have a standard from that time. Sometimes, these two forms of

Chinese are both using in our daily life and I can understand most of the traditional

Chinese because of the same framework. Moreover, compared to the simplified Chinese,

traditional Chinses characters are more beautiful. In China, there is an art form named

"Shufa" which is the Chinese calligraphy, a form of calligraphy, widely using in ancient

China until now. Different dynasties have different forms of calligraphy. Also, Chinese

calligraphy has a huge influence on another country because this form originated from

China and we are still developing it. For example, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam are still

studying Chinese calligraphy. Especially in Japan, they have a lot of Chinese calligraphy

because their language originated from Chinese. According to some history books,

Japanese had been using Chinese before the Meiji reform. In addition, Chinese

calligraphy has various factions. Each of faction has their own style. For example, some

factions prefer to write characters that look like soft water. In the opposite, some factions

like to write characters that fulfill energy. In addition, the Chinese language includes a

special form is named Xiehouyu. The English of this form is A Two-Part Allegorical Saying,

a kind of Chinese proverb consists of two elements: the former segment presents a novel

act while the latter provides the reason. We have many competitions for Xiehouyu. The

compere would often only say the first part, expecting the audience to know the second.

I found an example which is same as Xiehouyu in English "a stitch in time (saves nine)"

or "a bird in the hand (is worth two in the bush)".
