Someone says that only people who are not satisfied with the status quo will
have the motivation to move forward. This is true in most cases. By extension, I
think discontent can promote the progress not only of the individual but also of
the whole society. The reason why dissatisfaction leads to progress is that people
who are not satisfied with the status quo yearn for a better life. They constantly
improve the status quo and try to promote the progress of individuals and society.
Discontent is the driving force of personal development. Edison once said that:
"Discontent is the first necessity of process", and he did what he said. After the
great success of the invention of the electric light, he was not satisfied with his
achievement. In addition to his invention and contribution in the phonograph,
electric light, the telephone, the telegraph, film, etc., he also has many famous
creations and insights in mining, construction, chemical industry and other fields.
It has been proved that dissatisfaction in action is not full of complaints, but the
internal driving force to promote personal development.
Dissatisfaction is the cornerstone of social development. If human beings are
satisfied with the poor living environment and low production efficiency, we may
still be living a primitive life with stone tools. Besides, The rulers of the Qing
Dynasty were complacent and thought that China was rich and powerful, so they
closed their doors to the outside world. Finally, they were invaded by other
powerful countries. PRC is not satisfied with the situation of poverty and weakness.
It abandoned the policy of closing the door to the outside world and began to
implement the policy of reform and opening up so that China can catch up with
the pace of the world.
So I think that discontent leads to progress, and it is in this process of
eliminating discontent that we keep moving forward.
I am 冉维恒. I have got an MSc degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering
at the University of Birmingham in December 2019. I got my Bachelor's degree in
the Department of Automation at the Wuhan University of Technology in 2017. I'd
like to apply for the position of assistant editor.
I have mastered two of the most commonly used programming languages: C
and python. In addition, I have studied courses that related automation and
electronic engineering during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies. These
courses include machine learning, pattern recognition, principle of automatic
control and digital design.
My undergraduate paper was “A License plate recognition system based on
Android and OpenCV”. It was a simple project which used SVM and ANN to
recognize characters information in pictures.
My master's paper was “An Obstacle Avoidance and Navigation Autonomous
Mobile Robot Based on Radar”. In this project, I designed an obstacle avoidance
strategy based on echoic flow to drive the mobile robot to achieve the goal while
avoiding obstacles.
I have two internship experiences. One is in CSSC and I primarily responsible
for embedded development. Another is in the computer vision laboratory at the
