still, quiet, silent 和 calm
在英语中， still， quiet ， silent， calm 都可以表示“静”
的意思，但它们各自的侧重点有所不同。现分析如下：
1 . still 指“静止的，寂静的”，侧重于完全不动或完全无
声响，带有感情色彩。 still 可以用来说人“不动”或人“不好
动”。例如：
All sounds are still. 万籁俱寂。
The Swede stood quite still， except that his lips moved

4 . calm 指天气、海洋的“风平浪静”，还可指人的心情

The doctor did what he could to make the girl calm. 医生
尽力让那女孩平静下来。
