可数名词和不可数名词

在书写中，应注意正确区别和运用英语的可数名词和不可数名词与名词的数。A． 数

名词和不可数名词英语的名词分为可数（COUNTABLE）与不可数（UNCOUNTALBE）

两种。可数名词有单，复数，可数名词的单数在使用时，前面伴有定冠词 THE或不定冠

词 A 或 AN。有的名词既是可数名词又是不可数名词，但意义和用法不同，要特别注意。

现就商业上常用的一些英语名词举例说明如下。 例句中（C）=COUTANBLE可数，

（U）=UNCOUNTABLE不可数。

1. authority

(C) We shall be glad if you will issue an authority (=a note of authentication)

to the Threadneedle Post Office.(证明书)

He should immediately intimate the fact to the railway authority (= a person

who has right to give orders). (领导，当权人)。

The authorities are most likely to permit us to import your products.(当局)

（U） We give you authority in which you will act freely for our company.(授

权).

2. business

(C) We have established a commission business in Japanese goods in

Tokyo.(佣金行)

He has started a business as children's photographer.(开业)。

The two business (=firms商行) have been working upon similar lines for

years past.

(U) This will lead to further business.(买卖，贸易)

We are quite willing to do business with you.(买卖，贸易)

There is every possibility that business to our mutual advantage may

result.(买卖，贸易)

It is essential to your success in business(事业)

3. claim

(C) There is no ground for a claim.(索赔要求)

Had we received such a claim from any firm with whom we had no previous

dealings, we should have declined it at all(索赔要求)
