Check the entire board surface for solder splashesand the interboard wiring to ensure that no wires are"pinched" or contact high-wattage for unauthorized replacement parts, particularlytransistors, that were installed during a previous repair. Pointthem out to the customer and recommend their for parts which, through functioning, show obvious signsof deterioration. Point them out to the customer andrecommend their the B+ voltage to see it is at the values le Circuit Board Repairing•Keep the temperature of the soldering iron around 270˚Cduring repairing.•Do not touch the soldering iron on the same conductor of thecircuit board (within 3 times).•Be careful not to apply force on the conductor when solderingor ed solderBoards requiring use of unleaded solder are printed with the lead-free mark (LF) indicating the solder contains no lead.(Caution: Some printed circuit boards may not come printed withthe lead free mark due to their particular size.) : LEAD FREE MARKUnleaded solder has the following characteristics.•Unleaded solder melts at a temperature about 40°C higher thanordinary ry soldering irons can be used but the iron tip has to beapplied to the solder joint for a slightly longer ing irons using a temperature regulator should be set toabout 350°n: The printed pattern (copper foil) may peel away if theheated tip is applied for too long, so be careful!•Strong viscosityUnleaded solder is more viscous (sticky, less prone to flow) thanordinary solder so use caution not to let solder bridges occur suchas on IC pins, etc.•Usable with ordinary solderIt is best to use only unleaded solder but unleaded solder mayalso be added to ordinary solder.2.3.4.5.6.— 3 —DSC-P10/P12TABLE OF E for Repair································································rging of the ST-81 Flexible Board’s ChargingCapacitor (C001)·····························································tion on Replacing the Video Lens or the SY-83Board··············································································· in Lens Frame Installation······································ption on Self-diagnosis Display····························EMBLYBattery Lid·······································································2-3Cabinet (Rear) Assembly·················································2-3LCD Module····································································2-4Cabinet Front Assembly··················································2-4Control Switch Block······················································2-5Cabinet (Lower) Assembly··············································2-6Lens Block Assembly······················································2-6ST-81 Board·····································································2-7SY-83 Board····································································2-7MS-130 Board·································································2-8SW-386 Board·································································2-8JK-244 Board··································································2-9CD-434 Board·································································2-9Circuit Boards Location················································ DIAGRAMSOverall Block Diagram (1/2)···········································3-1Overall Block Diagram (2/2)···········································3-3Power Block Diagram (1/2)·············································3-5Power Block Diagram (2/2)·············································D WIRING BOARDS ANDSCHEMATIC Schematic Diagrams·············································tic Diagrams························································4-5CD-434 (CCD IMAGER)···············································4-7SW-386 (1/2) (CONTROL SWITCH)··························4-29SW-386 (2/2)(LCD DRIVE, TIMING GENERATOR)·····················4-31ST-81 (FLASH DRIVE)···············································4-33MS-130 (MEMORY STICK CONNECTOR)··············4-37CONTROL SWITCH BLOCK·····································d Wiring Boards···················································4-39CD-434··········································································4-41SW-386··········································································4-47ST-81·············································································4-49MS-130··········································································rms·····································································d Parts Location················································ PARTS ed Views·······························································t Section································································ Section····································································y Holder Section····················································ical Parts List·························································5-5— 4 —Ver 1.6 2004.10DSC-P10/P12SECTION 1SERVICE FOR REPAIRMake sure that the flat cable and flexible board are not cracked ofbent at the not insert the cable insufficiently nor remove a connector, don’t pull at wire of is possible that a wire is installing a connector, don’t press down at wire of is possible that a wire is and remove the part of gilt

RGING OF THE ST-81FLEXIBLE BOARD’S CHARGINGCAPACITOR (C001)The charging capacitor (C001) of the ST-81 flexible board is chargedup to the maximum 300 V is a danger of electric shock by this high voltage when thecapacitor is handled by hand. The electric shock is caused by thecharged voltage which is kept without discharging when the mainpower of the unit is simply turned off. Therefore, the remainingvoltage must be discharged as described ing the Short JigTo preparing the short jig, a small clip is attached to each end of aresistor of 1 kΩ /1 W (1-215-869-11).Wrap insulating tape fully around the leads of the resistor to preventelectrical shock.1 kΩ/1 WDischarging the CapacitorShort-circuit between the positive and the negative terminals ofcharged capacitor with the short jig about 10 seconds.R:1 kΩ/1 W
