immediately, at once与right away之间的区别

immediately, at once和right away / right now都有“立即，马上，立刻”之意，但它们的用法却稍有差异，现在对它们之间的差异加以分析和说明如下。

“right away / right now”强调“现在（就得做）”（at this very moment）。例如：

The teacher asked the student to go back home for his homework

right away / right now. （老师要那位学生立即回家去拿家庭作业。）

immediately 常和其它状语连用，这时，它并不含有“现在（就做）”的意思。例如：

（1）You must do it immediately after supper. （你要在晚饭后立刻去做这件事。）（不是现在，而是在晚饭后立刻去做。）

（2）He wanted you to come to see him immediately after school. （他要你放学后马上来见他。）（不是现在，而是一放学就去。）

“at once”在意义和用法上与“right away / right now”大体接近。如第一个例句也可说成：

The teacher asked the student to go back home for his homework at once. （老师要那位学生立即回家去拿家庭作业。）

但“at once”除了有“立刻，马上”的意思外，还有“同时”之意。而immediately和right away / right now则没有这个意思。例如：

（1）Few people can do two things at once. （很少有人能够同时做两件事。）

（2）The TV play is at once interesting and instructive. （那部电视剧不但有趣，而且具有教育意义。）（两种性质同时存在）

all和“at once”构成的短语表示几件事同时发生，或几个人同时做一件事。例如：

（1）Don’t talk all at once. （大家不要同时讲话。）

（2）Do not boil all the dumplings at once, thirty at a time at the most.

（别把饺子一次煮完，一次最多煮30个。）

此外，有时“all at once”还含有“突然”之意，相当于suddenly 。例如：

（1）The boy ran away all at once. （那个男孩突然跑开了。）

（2）All at once we heard a shot and the soldier fell to the ground. （突然，我们听到一声枪响，那个士兵就倒在了地上。）

immediately除了有“立即，马上”之意外，还有“紧接，直接，紧靠”的意思，可以指时间，也可以指空间。例如：

（1）In a period immediately before the Spring Festival, all the department stores were full of

people. （临近春节前的一段时间里，所有的商店里都挤满了人。）

（2）They live in a house immediately behind a row of modern shops. （他们住在紧挨着一排新式店铺的后面的房子里。）

练习：根据汉语句子，用immediately, at once, right away / right now填空，使英语句子意思完整，结构正确。

1. 老师要我们马上打扫教室。

The teacher asked us to clean the classroom ______.

2. 我将马上与他联系。

I am getting in touch with him ______.

3. 请大家不要同时进来，一次最多两个。
