ITEMS CONTENTS

About the Unit

This unit is about a modern hero Nelson Mandela. It talks

about the racial discrimination and their efforts to make the

white and the black equal.

About the students

The students are, to some extent, familiar with the topic A

modern Hero---Nelson Mandela, but not familiar with racial

discrimination. Many of them even didn't know ANC.

Although they are eager to know something new, it might be

a little difficult for them to fully understand the whole

information, especially from listening.

Teaching aims

and demands

Language skills aims:

1. Enable students to talk about something about ANC

Youth league.

2. Enable students to say something about Elias.

3. Enable students to develop their listening and speaking

skills.

Affective attitudes aims:

1. Encourage students to concentrate on listening to the

listening material.

2. Encourage students to have the confidence that as long

as we have a dream and fight for the dream, it will come

true.

3. Encourage students to fight against the unfairness in the

society.

Learning strategies aims:

1. Instruct students to learn to get the main idea of a piece

of listening material..

2. Instruct students to learn how to get the key information

of a piece of listening material.

3. Instruct students to cooperate with others to do role-play.

Cultural awareness aims:

Help students to know the racial discrimination in south

Africa. Everyone was born equal

Language knowledge Goals:

1. Students are expected to learn how to use some useful

words and expressions in this unit.

2. Students are supposed to learn to use the attributive

clause

Difficult points:

1. How to enable students to talk about fine qualities of great

people and give reasons
