各种“符号”在英文里怎么说？

我们通常只会在文章中使用各种符号，而对于符号的形象，我们也很熟悉。但有时跟

外国朋友交谈时，会避免不了会涉及到符号的讨论，那么各种符号在英文里怎么说呢？

数学符号

+ plus 加号；正号

- minus 减号；负号

× is multiplied by 乘号

÷ is divided by 除号

＝ is equal to 等于号

＜ is less than 小于号

＞ is more than 大于号

书写符号

. full Stop（BrE）；period（AmE）句号

, comma 逗号

: colon 冒号

; semicolon 分号

question mark 问号

! exclamation mark（BrE）；exclamation point （AmE）感叹号

' apostrophe 撇号

- hyphen 连字号

-- dash 破折号

... dots/ ellipsis 省略号

' single quotation marks单引号

'' double quotation marks 双引号

另有两点需要注意的，第一点，is divided by是“除以”的意思，如“8除以4，商

是2”，英文为When eight is divided by four, the quotient is two。

但如果是“8除4”，是不同的运算方法，要正确写回“4除以8”才能接着使用该词

组。

第二点，就是parentheses与parenthesis，其实这两个单词并没有拼写错误，只是

parentheses是parenthesis的名词复数形式，前者音标是英[pəˈrenθəsi:z]或美[pə'renθ

əsi:z]，后者音标是[pəˈrenθəsɪs]。

学习了符号的英文说法后，
