PICC catheter.

1. Gather materials and prepare the patient. Explain
the procedure to the patient and obtain informed consent.
Position the patient comfortably and ensure the PICC
catheter is accessible.
2. Wash hands and put on sterile gloves.
3. Cleanse the PICC catheter insertion site. Apply
alcohol prep pads in a circular motion, starting from the
center and moving outwards. Allow to dry.
4. Disinfect the insertion site. Apply povidone-iodine
swabsticks in the same circular motion and allow to dry
completely.
5. Apply a tourniquet. Place the tourniquet
approximately 4-6 inches above the insertion site and
